Capella Ranch honeybees create amazing artwork! In the Capella Ranch Bee Huts, we use screen tops on hives to allow hive vapor to enter human side of the Bee Huts. The bees use a special wax called propolis to seal the screen top, turning the screens into one-of-a-kind, gorgeous, works of art!

We sell duck eggs by the dozen and individually. They are located for purchase in a hut out front of our property, we do not sell them online. A dozen duck eggs are in brown paper bags or plastic containers and are $10/dozen. To buy a duck egg or two individually, take them out of the orange carton labeled “SINGLES” and try it—just $1/egg. We offer individual eggs so you can try them before committing to a whole dozen.

Chicken Eggs

Products from the farm

  • Duck eggs are larger in size than chicken eggs.
  • Chicken eggs whites have a higher water content (more runny) than the whites in duck eggs.
  • Duck eggs have larger yolks, a higher yolk-to-white-ratio than chicken eggs.
  • Duck eggs taste richer, creamier, and more “eggy” than chicken eggs
Duck eggs have more magnesium, calcium, iron, vitamin B12, vitamin A, thiamin, etc. per 100 grams and are a great source of omega 3 fatty acids.
The taste is richer, almost as if you added an extra chicken yolk to your omelet. They are creamier than chicken eggs, due to the larger yolks.

SOME people with allergies to chicken eggs can safely consume duck eggs and vice versa due to differences in the proteins causing the allergy. (Check with your doctor if you have severe allergies.)

Duck eggs can be used just like chicken eggs. To cook and eat, bake, bread, the possibilities are endless. You substitute one duck egg for every chicken egg (no more and no less) – and your baked good WILL be fluffier. You'll also have richer sweets because of the larger yolk.
